Employment

Humboldt Redwoods State Park employs many permanent and seasonal staff, including Rangers, maintenance staff, trail crews, administrators, and scientists. Permanent employees work year round in the park while seasonal employees work primarily during the busy summer season. Information regarding permanent employment with California State Parks can be found by visiting the State Parks' web site at www.parks.ca.gov and clicking on the "Jobs" tab. Specific qualifications and requirements are posted for each job. Permanent positions with the state usually require applicants to take a written test and/or oral interview before being placed on a civil service list.

Each year Humboldt Redwoods State Park hires a number of qualified individuals for seasonal positions in the park. Visitor Services Park Aides and Senior Park Aides, Maintenance Aides, and Seasonal Interpreters perform a wide variety of tasks throughout the park. Some examples of duties include greeting park visitors, answering questions, registering campers, providing housekeeping and facilities maintenance, and conducting interpretive programs. Seasonal employees are often the first park staff visitors see when they come to the park, making them vital to the park's operation. The seasonal employment term is usually from just before Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend, with some exceptions.
