Albee Creek Campground is located 5 miles west of the Avenue of the Giants on Mattole Road, in the western portion of Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Open mid-May through mid-October, this 40 site family campground adjoins Rockefeller Forest and offers beautiful scenery, wildlife, and an incredible night sky. Albee Creek is close to numerous hiking and mountain biking trails, and park visitors of all ages will enjoy wading in the creek on a warm summer day.
Situated on an old homestead, the campground offers both second growth redwood forest and open meadows. Camp sites have shade, partial shade, or full sun in the open meadow. Albee Creek is very popular, and the campground is often full in the summer season. Site-specific reservations are available from just before Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend. Reservations are recommended. Fees are $35.00 per night which include one vehicle. Extra vehicle fees are $8.00 per vehicle, per night.
Albee Creek Campground is located in black bear country. All food and scented items must be stored in a metal bear locker or inside the trunk or passenger compartment of a vehicle.
The campground is generally staffed only during the summer season, and camping reservations cannot be made at the park.The Albee Creek Campground entrance station can be contacted directly at (707) 946-2472. The campground closes the Tuesday after Labor Day. The campground is only staffed during the Summer, so calls will not be returned in the off season. Reservations cannot be made at the park.
