Weddings & Special Events

Special Events:

The park is open year-round but some areas of our park do seasonally close and remain closed until Spring, such as the Williams Grove. We also do not have specific sites dedicated to any particular event, you let us know where you would like to go and we provide restrictions based on that location. The most popular wedding location is Williams Grove located in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. The following areas of the park do NOT allow special events or weddings: Founders Grove and Rockefeller Forest. Please be aware that any weddings requests near Drury Chaney Trail will require a park monitor. Other areas of the parks may also require a monitor who will be with your event for the duration. We recommend all special event organizers and applicants choose a primary location to request and several alternates. Reservations are taken up to 6 months in advance, reservation requests over 6 months from event date are not accepted.

**Due to storm damage; The California Federation of Womens Clubs Grove no longer is available for any special events. The bluff continues to erode and continues to take portions of the parking area yearly.

Many couples select Humboldt Redwoods State Park each year for their wedding ceremony or reception location. The park has a variety of beautiful settings that can provide the perfect place for that special day. Facilities, fees and the number of guests that can be accommodated vary based on the location in the park. Due to COVID-19, we do not know whether Williams Grove group areas will be open in 2021 due to ever changing COVID-19 public health regulations, but we expect we’ll have a better idea at the end of December 2020 regarding Spring and Summer 2021. Humboldt County changed their group limits in October 2020 and State Parks has adjusted accordingly. If limitations are again implemented, then those restrictions would apply for any weddings or special events occurring thereafter. For those within the 6-month reservation window we can begin the process and hold dates with the understanding that due to the dynamic nature of Public Health orders and State Government directions we are unable to confirm event/area reservation requests until closer to actual event dates.
If you are working with a wedding planner please provide the name and contact information in your permit application. Again, please realize that events may be canceled at any time by State or Local Public Health Orders.

A non-refundable permit application fee of $150 plus an additional use fee, dependent on location is required for all weddings/special events. All fees are non-refundable, non-transferrable.There are fees for all areas and fees vary based on area. Most day use areas are not exclusive (except Williams Grove which is exclusively permitee's area) and remain open to the public during your special event.
